This week we’re starting a new series on the topic of prayer. God has been very clear to our congregation that we need to be praying more corporately as we seek to fulfill the purposes of God and seek His heart for our body. It begins March 06 and will run through May 01. We’re even planning two worship/prayer services as bookends to the series! These next 9 weeks are going to be an amazing season for our church.

Just something I noticed out of Matthew 6. Jesus is teaching about prayer, giving, and fasting and with each section he says
“when you give..”
“when you pray…”
“when you fast…”
Seems like our lives should reflect each of these. Maybe we all lean towards one more than the other, but Jesus is talking as though he anticipates each of these to be present in our lives.
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:5-6
I read somewhere…”Have you sensed a growing distance from the Lord, or need to bring some burden before Him that you’ve been carrying around yourself? Get alone with God. Pour out your heart to Him in faith. If the Lord is talking to you about this, don’t wait another moment.”
I’ve come to learn that my truest test as a Christian is whether I truly want to have a relationship with Jesus. Sure, I can go to church each week, even spend a lot of time reading Scripture, but I’m coming to realize that when I’m on my knees, and I’m listening for Jesus to speak, that’s when I learn how much I really want to be near Him.
Some of the greatest Scriptures are prayers. I imagine Moses, the most humblest man ever to walk the earth, probably spent countless hours on his knees. It’s something to think about…
